About Us

If you ask Derrick, he'd tell you that our story started during our freshman year biology lab, where it was love at first sight with the girl who sat in the back corner, who was usually late, and who was always wearing her cross country practice clothes.

... Which is nice, but not really how it happened.

Our relationship actually started when I decided to sit next to Derrick in our sophomore year organic chemistry lecture. We were both a little shy, but we slowly went from notes in class to test prep after class, and then to trips to Cold Stone on the weekends. (And no, I still have no idea what our professor taught us that semester.)

Eventually, after an embarrassing incident involving a blueberry pancake, Derrick and I had "the talk." And just like that, we were official.

After we graduated, Derrick and I spent a few months in a sorta-long distance relationship, living on opposite coasts of Florida. Then we became a definitely-long distance couple, with me in Chicago and him in Florida. After a few months, Derrick moved to Chicago to be with me, where we ate a lot of brunch and got a lot of snow on our heads.

Then we got new jobs, leading me to Washington, D.C., Derrick back to Ft. Myers, Florida, and both of us to agreeing to try long-distance relationship-ing again. And at first, long distance didn't seem too bad.

But then I got through security at the Chicago-Midway airport, and realized that it sucked.

We spent over a year texting, calling, and throwing elbows for an aisle seat before Derrick showed up unexpectedly in my apartment in Virginia to propose. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to design my own wedding website, so of course I said yes. And now, here we are, inviting you all to join us in celebrating the best day of our lives (so far, at least).

And now, because there's really no way to make this segue gracefully, here are a bunch of pictures of us. Enjoy!
